Geosan Tax Accounting Corporation (거산세무법인, hereinafter the "Company") values the personal information of its users and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of the Republic of Korea and other applicable laws. This Privacy Policy explains how the Company collects, uses, retains, and disposes of personal information in connection with its tax refund services for foreign workers.

Article 1. Categories of Personal Information Collected and Methods of Collection

Article 2. Mobile App Permissions (iOS / Android)

Our mobile app requests the following device permissions. You may revoke any permission at any time through your device's operating system settings; doing so may, however, limit access to the related features.

Camera To capture tax-related documents — such as your identification, Alien Registration Card, and Withholding Tax Receipt — for upload. Captured images are transmitted to our servers (AWS) only at the moment you tap the "Submit / Upload" button.
Photo Library To upload tax-related document images you already have on your device. The app accesses only the images you explicitly select; it does not scan your entire photo library.
On-device Text Recognition (OCR) To automatically extract information from captured documents using the operating system's built-in text recognition (Google ML Kit / Apple Vision). Recognition runs entirely on your device. The original images are not transmitted to any external service for OCR.

Article 3. Purpose of Collection and Use

  • To assess eligibility for a tax refund and provide rectification claim (경정청구) services
  • To confirm service applications and notify users of the results (via email)
  • To delegate work to Geosan Tax Accounting Corporation
  • To comply with obligations imposed by applicable laws
  • To improve service quality and conduct statistical analysis (in de-identified form)

Article 4. Retention and Use Period

As a general rule, personal information is destroyed without delay once the purpose of collection has been achieved. However, the following items are retained for the periods required by applicable laws.

Article 5. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

As a general rule, the Company does not provide users' personal information to third parties. Exceptions are limited to the following cases:

  • When the user has given prior consent
  • When required by applicable laws or requested by competent authorities such as the National Tax Service

Note: Text recognition by Google ML Kit and Apple Vision is performed entirely on the user's device (on-device processing) and therefore does not constitute outsourcing of personal data.

Article 7. Users' Rights and How to Exercise Them

Users may exercise the following rights at any time:

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information
  • Request suspension of the processing of personal information
  • Request portability or transfer of personal information

Requests may be submitted by email to the Privacy Officer listed below and will be processed within 10 days.

Article 8. Destruction of Personal Information

Personal information whose retention period has expired or whose purpose of collection has been fulfilled is destroyed without delay. Electronic files are permanently deleted in a manner that prevents recovery, and printed materials are shredded or incinerated.

Article 10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be revised in accordance with changes in applicable laws or the service. Any revision will be announced on the website at least 7 days before its effective date, and material changes will be communicated separately by email.
